21st January 2025 - Taking Your Business Off Of Social Media (or diversifying your visibility)

Season #1

Amber Cherelle (00:00):

Hello, beautiful souls and welcome to today's takeaway. So one of the biggest questions cropping up right now from lots of people in our network, is it possible to still have a successful business without using social media to market? And the reason this question seems to be coming up is of course there's been a lot of noise about disruptions to various different social media platforms. There's always a lot of uncertainty about different algorithm shifts or whether platforms will still exist or be around what happens when things change. And also there are just some people that prefer to stay away from the noise of social media and find that it disrupts their life, their mental health, their wellbeing, and don't like being on social media. Whatever your reasons for considering moving your business away from social media or not having your business on social media at all.

(00:56)There is another way. So when I started my second business, it came about by chance and it was completely through word of mouth referrals, and I didn't have a website for it. I didn't promote it, I didn't share it. I literally did some work for somebody who is very well connected to the travel industries that I was working for. I spoke about what I did everywhere in conversations with friends when meeting new people and over time got known for what I did and within the community and within the circles that I was in. And that led to people referring me out to other businesses that were looking for people to help with their website building or marketing. And it just kind of took off. And if I learned anything from that period of time, is that, especially if you have a full line in your human design, but not necessarily this can work for any design type, that one of the most important aspects to growing your lead base is about the connections that you make and the awareness you build. And this is one of the reasons that I began the Get Visible Get Selling Challenge, was to give you a variety of ways that don't all involve social media, of getting your business visible in front of more people, in front of your ideal client in ways that feel good and aligned to you.

(02:34)That does require you to have the confidence to show up and share your business wherever your soulmate client is showing up. So how do you build your business and scale your business? If you are not using social media, the first thing that you must get to grips with is understanding your soulmate client and understanding their environmental behaviors. In other words, where do they spend their time if they're not on social media? In my case, I work with business moms, women in business. So a lot of them will be spending their times in their schools, maybe clubs where their children hang out, children hang out, they'll be at networking events. They might be at spiritual retreats, especially those who are interested in things like human design and the energetics behind business. They might be at conferences and things like that. The other aspect of my business is hypnotherapy. And so for my hypnotherapy clients, I might be looking at places like pharmacies, doctor surgeries, other mental health practitioners such as counselors or CBT therapists.

(03:54)Again, they might be at local schools, churches at their work, spending time at their workplaces. So there are lots of different places that people hang out and spend their time with all of that. Considered your next step is once you've decided and know where your soulmate client is spending their time is how can I get my business visible in those places and spaces? And so for example, local schools, doctor surgeries, pharmacies, community, places like churches or community hubs and halls often have notice boards or email newsletters that go out with local events and things on. So I'm going to make sure that I've got flyers, business cards, information about ways of working with me, whatever they might be, and I'm going to make sure that they are visible in all of those places, starting off local to me and then expanding further as best as possible. People are always spending time at home, so how can you reach them at home? We've had some of our academy members do leaflet drops.

(05:09)You could consider doing door to door sales if that felt like your vibe and you wanted to go meet some people. And that's just one of many, many options, right? So how can you be visible in those spaces for those people that will be going to community groups or conferences or business networking events or even women's meetups? Can you get yourself along to some of them? Go and meet people, build relationships with them. Conversations naturally turn to what do you do for a living? I mean, it's one of the most basic questions people ask when they first connect with people. So it gives you this prime opportunity to share what you do and to be confident in sharing what you do. Make sure you've got business cards or a way for people to connect with you and stay connected after the events that you attend or after the places where you are meeting your soulmate client and hand them out and be brave enough to say, let's stay in touch, right? (06:08)And get them to connect with you in whatever way, shape, or form is most aligned for you. Whether that be via email, whether that be via your WhatsApp and phone number, whatever works for you. But you have to be present and you have to show up, and you have to have the confidence to say, this is who I am, this is what I do, and be visible in that. The other thing that I'd highly recommend is making sure friends and family know what you do as well, because they're always meeting new people, connecting with people. They're going to have other friends and family that ask questions of them. And if they know what you do, your name is going to be at the forefront of their mind. You might consider other avenues such as YouTube, if your soulmate client is somebody that watches YouTube, setting up a YouTube account might be a way forward.

(07:02)Or if your soulmate client is somebody that does a lot of Google searches, you might consider creating a blog, making sure that it's SEO optimized. You might share that blog to Pinterest and use Pinterest to generate leads, which is a great long-term SEO strategy. You might look at writing for local magazines or going on podcasts using pr, so media, radio stations, TV networks, news channels, that kind of thing. There are lots of different ways. What about those who have soulmate? Clients that are heavily into personal development books or reading educational nonfiction books. Maybe it's time to get that book written and get it out there on Amazon. So there are lots and lots and lots of different ways for you to market your business that don't require you to use social media. But the first point of action is to get to know where your soulmate client is actually spending their time outside of social media and then meet them where they're
